Let me tell you about SGR FAITH IS THE VICTORY.    $8,500.00

Before September 16, 2006, Faith had never been to a horse show, never been trained to show   in-hand, never been shown on the triangle, and had never even been introduced to a chain lead line.  We decided, "Let's see what Faith can do," and we entered her in the last USDF Breed Show of the year at Proud Meadows.

Well, Faith most certainly showed us what she could do as she promptly won her very first class over 6 other fillies - and then went on to win Grand Champion Filly of 2005, with a score of 83.9 and qualified for the Fillies of 2005 Championship Class!! Faith took 6th Place with a score of 75.35 in the Fillies of 2005 Championship Class (she acted up and wouldn't show clear gaits for the judges), and she went on to win Third Place in the IBC Swedish Class with a score of 79.3, AND on Thursday, September 21, 2006, at the Swedish Warmblood Inspection, she was judged a CLASS I SWB by the two Swedish Judges!!!!!!!!!   WAY TO GO FAITH!!!!!!!!  We are totally blown away by Faith's accomplishments in just one week's time!

TRIBUTE TO MY GAL - 4-18-88 to 2-15-08

Amazing Grace's Dam and Faith is the Vicory's Grand Dam
On February 15, 2008, we had to say good-bye to a wonderful old friend and treasured companion, My Gal April.  (Pictured above)  She was 3 yrs. old in this photo and that's me (Kathy Loyd) riding her over this little jump.
When we moved from Mesquite, Texas, to Shreveport, Louisiana, the Green family became our new neighbors.  Megan Green would always come over to the fence to talk to and pet the horses.  She especiallly bonded with My Gal's new foal, Amazing Grace.  In the meantime while Gracie was growing up, the Greens moved a couple of miles away to a new house and property.  One day I got a feeling - thought - impression (whatever you want to call it - inspiration(??) that I felt was the Lord asking my heart - "Megan needs a horse that she can ride - why don't you give her My Gal?"  Now, I loved My Gal dearly and it was a very tough question for me.  But, again and again the question came to my mind and my heart, "Why don't you give My Gal to Megan?"  I decided that I would first clear this with her parents before saying anything to Megan.  I didn't want to get her hopes up and then make her parents feel bad if they decided they could not afford to keep a horse or did not want that responsibility.  I wrote a letter telling them all about My Gal, her age, her arthritis problems, the cost of up keep and the cost of the joint formula that she would need to help her stay sound.

I received a call from Wendy, Megan's mother who told me that I must be psychic or something because Megan had come to ask her parents if she could get a horse that she could ride.  She had two miniture horses and she said she loved them and all, but that she felt she needed a horse that she could ride.  Then they received my letter.  I also suggested that Megan come over for several sessions of grooming, feeding, saddling, and riding, to see how the two would work together.   And so it was, My Gal became Megan's horse and moved a few miles away to live with Megan.  It worked out that around the time I felt they had a good connection and I felt comfortable with My Gal moving to Megan's house, that it was Megan's birthday.

Megan got to enjoy My Gal for a few years, but lately it became apparent that My Gal was going down physically and the vet was called out to put her down.  But, My Gal took a better turn and the family called it off. My Gal couldn't have had a nicer home than with the Greens and Megan was always studying to see what she could do to help My Gal stay with her as long as possible.  In between all of this, her mother called to inquire about My Gal's daughter, Amazing Grace.  I forgot to mention that when the Greens moved away, Gracie jumped the fence into their yard looking for her young friend who would always come and visit her at the fence. Gracie had matured and had been broke to ride and we had been ridinig her at home and took her to a few trail rides and horse shows.  Now, this will show you just how much Megan loved My Gal...  I e-mailed Megan to ask about My Gal's condition and I suggested that she could bring Gracie over to love on and to ride (because My Gal was no longer able to be rode).  Megan thanked me for the offer but said, "I have to think about My Gal and get her well right now, and that is the most important thing to me right now."  Wow.  I was very greatly impressed with her response.

Some time after that, I received an e-mail that My Gal was having trouble getting up and didn't eat the night before and Megan was greatly troubled and wondered what could she do?  She and the vet decided, and Megan stated that "I realize that I can't just keep My Gal here with me just because I don't want to let her go."  The appointment was made and Megan called me to let me know when My Gal would be put down.  I told her that I hated to hear that but that I certainly understood and I agreed about what must be done.  All that day, I was tortured with whether or not I should go to the Green's to be there when it happened.  I was afraid of so many things... (How would I handle it?  Would I be able to offer any support and comfort, or would I just be "in the way?"  "Would I be intruding on such a emotional time?")  What to do???  My boss let me go early that Friday afternoon and I drove by the Green's many times trying to figure out what to do.  I wasn't even sure that the process had occurred.  When I finally went home, Earl said that Wendy had called and said that the vet would be out around 6 or 7 p.m.  I asked Earl if he would go with me - because I could not get the courage to go by myself. We did go.  It was very, very, sad and emotional - but we got through it somehow.  The Green's had purchased Gracie and Gracie was there.  Megan got her courage up to give My Gal's lead rope to her father and we walked over to be with Gracie while the deed was done.  Megan and Gracie had some transitioning to do to get over the fact that My Gal is gone - but I am most happy to report that they are doing fine now.

My Gal, rest in peace.  You were very much loved!
